StarCon!

Today was StarCon and I had a blast! Even though I almost didn't get any sleep because I was so nervous and excited! My boyfriend had to come along as my bag holder and photographer for the day, as I was busy being in the cosplay competition. I was competing with my Queen Amidala costume that I have been writing about in earlier posts(here). I have put so much work and money into this costume I cant even believe it! I had my doubts about it when I was half done, thinking the colors were all wrong and I couldn't get the shapes right and so on. But it actually wrapped up really nicely I think, and I am proud of the results. So I was really nervous about the competition, how I were going to perform on stage, because I'm not a stage person at all! I practiced my two lines over and over again, terrified of speaking on stage!

There were so many talented cosplayers there with beautiful costumes, and amazing performances. I am so thankful to get to spend the day with these people!

Now for some photos! Unfortunately I did not manage to get photos of all of the amazing contestants, some were simply moving to quickly, but I'm posting the ones I got. Amazing! I love the glasses and the turban! I really felt bad for this girl, because when I was cosplaying Rey, wearing that turban, I was soo hot! I almost died, I'm sure of it! She did great!

Young Anakin Skywalker, and his mother Shmi Skywalker. Shmi(sadly I did not catch her name) made these costumes from thrift store items, it's amazing!

And this cool guy, a Rey inspired character, such an amazing presence on stage! What a show he put on!

And we got Boba Fett up on stage, with his lunch, such a funny guy! I love it when someone makes a show!

And here is me on stage, all graceful and boring! But I guess a Queen can't be fun all the time! With great power comes great responsibility, and all that crap!

And now, the not Star Wars participants!

Harley Quinn, what an attitude on stage!

Sadly i did not catch what this women was cosplaying, but still, a very good stage performance!

This girl actually sang on stage, which I find so amazing! How someone could do that is beyond me! She was an angel! The skirt of her dress was so beautifully made, I was simply stunned!

This beautiful young lady was from a anime series, I believe. I did not catch which one. Such a skillfully made dress, and a really strong performance!

And finally, I have got for you ladies and gentlemen, The King Under The Mountain, Thorin Oakenshield! I am so stunned by this costume, it's amazing, the detail, the fabrics, the armor! AMAZING! And her performance was so in character at first, then she cracked us all up with having a fun twist at the end with the song "Money, money, money" By ABBA. Just completely awesome!

And there were this guy, who was really cool! He was staff, and did not compete in the contest.

These were the talented judges in the cosplay competition. There were two categories, Cosplay and Outfit.

And these are the winners of the outfit competition, Harley Quinn on third, The singing angle on second, and the Rey inspired figure in first place! They did so well, congratulations to all of you!!

And for the Cosplay competition, third place went to the cute anime girl to the right, second went to amazing Oakenshield, aaand, you guessed it, first place, went to ME! I am so amazed and thankful for the first prize, and so happy to win something with this costume I have been slaving on for the last month and spent soo much money on (about 3,000 kr, 362 USD). And thank so much for all the compliments I got today, and all the nice people I met, and my boyfriend who went with me to this con!

Now, a happy Queen Amidala, can go home to get some rest, and take off this uncomfortable headpiece! Once again, I want to thank the judges who gave me this price, and all the nice people, and the organizers of the con! I had a wonderful time, and hope to go to another con soon!
